This crannog is visible from the car park/driveway that leads up to the visitors center. Since the lake level was lowered it is no longer isolated from the shore and may be reached easily if the lough level is low.
It is now covered in trees and its form hard to judge, but it looks circular. It was constructed by placing a circle of stones in the water and filling up the center with brushwood and soil.

From Limerick take the R512 and then the R514 following the signs for The Lough Gur Centre. Drive as far up the car park as you can. The crannog is in the corner of the lough very close to the car park.
