The location of this great pair of attractions took no finding at all. Actually spotting them once there did. I walked up and down the lane looking into the field expecting to see a high cross or something I suppose. Instead, built into the wall I finally spotted a little niche and in that niche a great cross, almost camouflaged into the dry stone wall. What got me really excited was the inclusion of a little water trough too.
The proximity of these two water related sites, one pagan one very early Christian is simply superb. If you're in the area check them out.

I'm very happy that I stopped here again. I had forgotten how large this cross head really is. Time twists your memory somewhat and I had remembered this as being just 50cm or so in diameter. My earlier photos don't give a different impression either, so I was quite surprised when I walked up to it and saw that it is actually over 1m in diameter.

From Bagenalstown take the R724 east. Take the third left and then turn right at the t junction. When you reach a sharp left hand bend you will see a lane going to the right. These items are about 30 m down this lane on the left.
