Visit Notes

Sunday, 9th February 2003

With so many bullaun stones and wells dedicated to St. Bridget, formerly the Celtic Goddess Brigid, in this area I get the feeling that Kildare may have stolen her! Anyway, this well is situated between a river and the bullaun stone in the churchyard and, although it is most definitely a Catholic Holy Well now, it just oozes 'pre-Christian'-ness.

The well 1.5m below the ground and is accessed down a few steps and protected by a stone hood.
