This stone has so much going for it. It is, for one, quite large. It has also definitely been worked to provide a flat edge. The owner of the house that adjoins the stone has carefully cleared some moss to expose a definite cut mark across the base of the stone. There is a large shoulder at ground level indicating that the stone was put in place and then worked. He is convinced that the worked face aligns to the sun rise on the summer solstice.

It is also made all the more better because it is right next to a stream and very close to a junction of two streams. Well worth checking out.

Directions

Take the N81 south from Dublin. The stone is in a field just before the second left turn after the junction with the R412. It is actually easier to access the stone via the garden of the house on the junction and the owner is quite proud of his stone.
