I did not hold out much hope here, as most of my trips to find bullaun stones have failed due to them being in the middle of bogs or just not being there. This one however is actually sign posted !! And as soon as I saw it I could see why they are so proud of it. A huge rock by the road side, along side (almost in) a stream, with three bullauns on the top all in a row. This multiple bullaun is a gem. The importance of water to whoever sited and started this bullaun off is self evident. Hunt it out, the effort is worth it.
The high crosses here (S 965 761) are very different. The one that still stands is not too spectacular, but the fallen one (one the opposite side of the road to the church) would have been amazing. It is now laid out on a large slab for you to see along with many cross slabs.
Further along the road (S 961 762) is Clonmore Castle, an amazingly overgrown and ominous building.

I just popped in here to show the kids this wonderful multiple bullaun. We also went upto the broken cross to have a good look at the cros slabs. While I was there I noticed a beautiful 'baby' bullaun just 5cm across and about the same deep.

I don't pass through Clonmore very often, so as I was close by I decided I would stop and take a good look at this wonderful stone. It's still amongst my favourites and, as far as I know, is the only signposted bullaun stone.

_Clonmore is about 4 km south of Hacketstown (Baile Haiceid). Take the first turning off the R272 inside the town and then the second right.
