Visit Notes

Sunday, 1st September 2002

I actually thought that I was going to see a standing stone here, but it would appear that the OS map shows the Mayo townland prtal tomb and standing stones in the wrong locations. They have swapped them around.

The tomb is very ruined, with just one 2.2m portal stone left erect. A number of slabs lie about its base, the exact function of which can not really be determined. It is nicely fenced in and protected from the cattle that share the field with it, even if the fence is a little too close to it.
