Visit Notes

Saturday, 20th July 2002

At last! We managed to find a way into this churchyard! I have looked a couple of times but a landfill (very smelly) seemed to be in the way. However, a track skirts the place and leads to the church.

This cross is said to be the remains of a Tau (T-shaped) cross. From one side this does look possible, but from the other it does look like it's been broken off and was originally a standard cross. If it is a Tau cross then it is extremely unusual.

The cross head is 50cm wide and has a central boss with a circle around it. Very nice.
