This is not really a stone circle - more of a barrow with some standing stones around it in a circle. Whatever it really is it is wonderful.

The monument consists of a 2m high, flat topped mound with a bank around its rim - giving it the characteristics of a saucer barrow. However, standing around this 'rim' are four 2m tall stones set at right angles to the circumference. There are four more that have fallen.

All of these stones are identical in height and profile, being 1m deep and 25cm thick. The outer edge is straight and the inner edge curves, giving them a bow like form.

Who ever is buried beneath this was obviously of great importance for such a structure to be built for them. It also makes you wonder how many other of the zillions of barrows once looked this splendid.
