This mound took me totally by surprise. Most things marked as mounds are now just shadows of their former self, but this one is incredible. Probably just 6m in diameter at the bottom, the remarkable thing is its height and shape. It must be 7m tall and has the shape of an old wicker beehive. It has much more modern neighbours in the form of what looks like a small scrapyard and a bungalow. However, it still manages to send out a great feeling of being.
Its proximity to the river Nanny suggests either a sacred water link or simply that the people who constructed ate fish. I tend towards the former. A sight well worth making a detour to see, as it is so rare to find one in such good condition..
