| Killucan - Bullaun Stone |
Tucked away in a little road side enclosure are the stumps of three late wayside crosses (16th Cnetury). They are currently hidden away beneath and behind the branches of a tree that is imposing itself from the neighbouring garden and the enclosure itself is knee high in weeds. This does not seem to be a recent occurrence as one of the branches is some 7cm thick. The crosses are in danger of becoming more damaged by this tree.
The lack of care for these monuments is terrible. Although they are damaged surely they deserve to be respected a little more than this.
Only one of the crosses originally stood here, the others were moved here to join it when the enclosure was built, I think.
