This motte is in exceedingly good condition. Stretching away to the south the earthworks that mark where the bailey, or enclosed courtyard, once extended to are clearly visible, as are the internal fosse and bank that surround the 7m high mound of the motte.
The surrounding ditch is clearest on the west side furthest from the road, which is also where the motte is less tree covered and more visible too, which means a walk into the field is necessary to fully see this well preserved example.
