This carved figure is wonderful. It is likely that it was formerly the pillar of a cross that was later altered.

On one face it has a Punch like figure holding a crosier and bell wearing little ankle boots that look like cloven feet.

Carved onto one adjoining side is an almost pagan looking face which is quite spectacular.

I couldn't resist stopping off to see this little fellow on the way to Devenish. I don't know if it was the poor light or not but the carvings seems to be fading fast. The Bishop is very difficult to see properly now.
