When you visit these forest embedded tombs you expect two things -
1) To take ages to find them.
2) That you'll be disappointed when you do.
However, with this tomb neither points apply. Both courts and chambers are in fairly good order. Both are certainly good enough to enable you to see the size and layout of each, although the northernmost one is by far the better of the two.
The north court is 4m wide by 3m deep leading to a 4m long chamber which is split into two section by a low jamb. The southernmost court and chamber is about the same dimensions. There is amazingly a 12m gap between the backs of the two chambers making the whole structure at least 26m long and 8m wide. There is little or no trace of the cairn and no roof stones survive.
The sylvan glade that this tomb now sits in does actually add to the enjoyment of this site and makes a visit here quite good. Perhaps the bright dazzling sun filtering down through the canopy helped.
