A lovely purt motte. This must have been built to defend and protect the crossroads it stands by.
The mound is almost perfectly hemispherical and about 5m tall. There is a little gate in the wall around its base that allows you to climb onto the top.

Take the N81 south until you enter Rathvilly and turn left. At the first cross roads turn right and the motte is imediately on your right.
