I had just been to the nearby townland of Togherstown to look for a bullaun stone that is no longer in the spot it's supposed to be in and drove past this well as I was leaving. I thought I'd pop in in case the bullaun had been moved here. It hasn't. In fact, it's quite likely that the stone was originally moved from here as this is a well dedicated to Brigid.
The well itself is a large pool that runs off into a channel that disappears into some trees. There is a figurine in a shrine house that looks more like a Mary rather than a Brigid to me. The area is quite well tended and there is a circle of station stones around the outside of the pool. A little bridge crosses the stream to allow you to make a full circle.
The ground between the road and the well is full of lumps and bumps which look like the foundations of ruined buildings. Next to the well enclosure there is a more substantial ruin (but only just more substantial!)
