Visit Notes

Sunday, 27th April 2008

This site isn't on the OS map and isn't visited as often as its more famous neighbour (which itself is hardly ever visited!)

From the road below it is hard to tell what is actually left, but it looks impressive. Close-up it is a half and half site. It is impressive, but a lot of it is missing.

The court faces up-hill into the west-facing slope. The north side has been quite damaged and only a couple of stones remain. The south side is complete and it is these large stones that you can see from below. Next to these there are two stones from the facade, which are equally as large.

The gallery has gone. A low mound below the court represents all that is left of the gallery and cairn. There are two massive recumbent stones between these remains and the court, which judging by their location are presumably displace entrance jambs, but they could be roofstones.
