As I walked down to White Park beach I could see a high, domed bump in the dunes, but it didn't fit the description I had read of this monument. I walked past it at first and after finding no other signs checked it out. This is definitely the site: the ring of stones around it and the stone set at the centre fit the description perfectly. The original description just didn't mention that there was still a mound here, too.
The exposed kerb is visible most of the way around the cairn. It is not at the monument's apparent base, however. This indicated that it was built upon a natural high spot, presumably rock, in the dunes. The cairn is 7m in diameter and over 2m tall.
The site overlooks the very important beach at White Park Bay, which is one of the places that the roughed out axes from Tievebulliagh were brought to be finished.
