This 1.6m tall stone originally stood on the opposite side of the road near to a rath and souterrain, where there is now a quarry. It was moved here for safe keeping ... except someone seems to have forgotten about looking after it. The area is stands in is overgrown and shabby. To add insult to injury this beautiful stone stands inside a tacky ring of smaller stones - a setting that it doesn't need.

In total contrast to its current plight it was carefully and lovingly shaped into a most appealing shape by its creator. The front face has a large cross carved into it that is nearly as tall and wide as the stone.

This stone deserves better than this it should be signposted and the old weigh-bridge area next to the overgrown plot could be used as a car park for visitors.
