This damaged bullaun stone is situated in one of the most beautiful valleys in the Wicklow Mountains between Lough Tay and Lough Dan. The stone lies just inside a field gate near to the bridge across Cloghoge Brook.
There is one complete bullaun in the centre of the remaining stone and a second broken basin lies at one edge. The complete bullaun has a holed drilled in the base, but it still seems to hold water. The damage to the stone looks deliberate, as if done with a sledge hammer.
The walk down to the stone from the north is a steep one, which means walking back from seeing it is hard work, but lots of people walk along this track every day. Do they know they're passing it? Probably not as the scenery here is wonderful.
