There are actually four bullaun stones recorded in Lickeen townland, but I couldn't locate two of them. The other two (these two) were somewhat easier, as they are now in the back garden of a farmhouse. They were moved here when a nearby field was cleared.
Both stones are quite large. The largest is 2m long, 1m wide and now stands over 1m high. When it was in its original location it is safe to bet that it stood much lower, with some of the boulder buried in the ground (this presumably applies to both stones.) The larger stone has two basins/bullauns. One is a full hemi-spherical example 25cm in diiameter, while the other is very shallow.
The smaller boulder has three basins. One is complete, while the other two break the sides of the boulder.
I was shown these stones by Tom, a fan of megalithomania. It was great to stand and chat to someone with a keen interest in monuments for 30 minutes plus.
