This is a lovely stone in a lovely spot. It stands on an a flat area to the west of Croughan Hill, which dominates the site. The stone's section is rectangular, and the sides appear to have been worked almost flat. Its long axis is northeast to southwest, giving the flat sides the same alignment. There's definitely a case for checking out this stone at the Summer Solstice. The sun should rise over the north side of Croughaun Hill and align with the sides of the stone.
At a little over 2m tall and over 1m thick this is an impressive piece of stone. In the same field there are several patches of ground that are not cut. These are littered with large stone, several of which would make impressive standing stones themselves. Was this field the site of a small complex?
