Directions

Drive into Howth via the R105 from Dublin. You will reach a cross roads where the R106 goes north. Turn right here and head south around the island. After passing a cemetery on the right you will come to a left turn. Take this and follow the road around until shortly after a sharp right bend. You should see a track leading over the hill to the left. Park here and follow this track. If you follow this track until 50m or so after it turns north the cairn was on you right.

Miscellanea

From here the sun sets down over Bohernabreena , where the mythical Bruiden of Da Derga was on Samhain. Conversely the Beltaine sunrise is over Howth from Bohernabreena. continuing this line to the SE it passes over the tomb on Knockanvinidee, which is the place I first really noticed how Howth is like a focus.
