You never know what to expect when visiting portal tombs. They can be very ruined or wonderfully architectural. The one thing I rarely wonder about is their size, which is why the petiteness of this one took me by surprise. The one remaining portal stone is just 1m tall and the chamber is just 1m square.
The capstone lies to one side of the tomb and a pile of assorted stones lie at its rear. The farmer told me that his dad told that the capstone was thrown off the tomb by a local strongman for a bet. Whether this is a true story or the folkloric remnant of a tale of giants we'll never know for sure. The site, like many others, is known as The Giant's Grave.
