A few old books mention possible monuments on the top of Slievnabawnogue, so I decided to head for the top and look around. Today there is nothing but a few possible bumps and ruts and a small modern cairn. Oh ... and a lot of pine trees! Where did they come from? The 3rd Edition of the OS map still shows that the hilltop is free of trees. What did they update on it? Nothing more than roads by the looks of it.
As with the barrow at Ballinascorney Upper (County Dublin) the alignments to many monuments is wonderful. Here you have the added advantage of being able to see the passage tombs on top of Seahan Hill (County Dublin) and you can look down onto the monuments in Belgade Deerpark. The Scotch Pines next to Ballymaice (County Dublin) allow you to spot where that is too.
