This well maintained well is in a little garden-type area at the west end of Old Leighlin. There is a car park by the roadside and access is striaghtforward.
The well is covered by a modern cuboid, whitewashed structure, which makes the site a little bit sterile. However, the sound of the water from the well and the babbling stream at the bottom of the field to add to the ambience. Between the well and the stream there is a rag-tree.
Behind the well housing there is a nice old cross set into a square stone base. The well is known locally as 'Molaise' well after one of the abbots at the nearby abbey/cathedral. He was later sent to Rome as part of a group who settled the date for Easter. The feast day of Molaise or 'My Laisren' is April 18th.
