The route I had chosen to take me into Clare drew me close to Ennis and so close to Dromcliff. I didn't know what to expect from the site as I approached along the very, very narrow roads as the map shows a couple of buildings between the road and the tower. As it happens there is a large cemetery between the road and tower, so it's easy enough to reach.
The tower itself is very ruined. Just the bottom 3m is in good condition. Sitting on top of this is a section of wall that reaches a total of 11m. There are no remains of any windows or the door, but the sign inside the cemetery gate does say that say that the door and a couple of windows were still present in the early 1800s.
The poor state of this tower does not make it worth a special visit, although the scenery here is great.
