This really did take some finding. It is actually about 200m from where it's marked on the OS map and the landscape here is not very friendly: it's a mix of raised bog and rock outcrops that make you stumble and squelch into submission. We really did think of giving up on several occasions.

Luckily I spotted the stones just in time and I am so glad I did, because this is a lovely example fo a five stone circle. For the size of circle and the other four stones, the lagest of which are about 1.5m tall, the axail stone is very low. The stones get taller as the move away from the axial stone. The circle is about 2m in diameter.

A large thorn tree and a smaller one are growing inside the circle. The monument is built in a little valley-ette and oddly the axis of the circle points straight into a rock outcrop just 20m from the circle. The site is quite high up and above the Roughty estuary at Kenmare, but the circle is located so that the water is out of sight - this surprised me.

This is well worth hunting out if you have a GPS and quite a bit of time!
