This is a superb example of a round tower, if somewhat oddly sited. The tower is complete and still retains its conical stone roof. The doorway, which has a locked wooden door, is around 3m from the ground on the east side. There are the usual four windows on the top level facing in the direction of the cardinal points of the compass. There is a single window on the floor below facing east.
The reason the site is so odd is that it is outside the wall around the church and in a ploughed field. Amazingly the farmer gets away with ploughing to within one metre of the base of the tower!
For those who like round towers this has to be one of the best examples in the southwest.

From Ballyduff head south down the R551 for about 500m. On the right you will see a signposted road for the round tower. Drive to the end of this and park. If you get that far you can't miss the round tower.
