This was one of the sites I was most looking forward to visiting today and unfortunately it provided the biggest disappointment! Set on a 4m high, narrow platform above a dry stream leading to Toome Lough are the remains of two portal tombs ... if you can find them in the scrub, hazels and brambles. They are set along a west-east axis. The one at the east end is the easiest to find, but is the most ruined - just a few stones exist. I nearly gave up on the second one, but eventually fought my way to it. Letting this magnificent looking monument become so scandalously overgrown is unforgivabale really.
Walking west from the more ruined tomb the portal stones of the other one suddenly appeared. They are well-matched and over 2m tall. A three-quarter-height doorstone stands between them. The chamber lies to the west of these, so the portal faces east, towards the other structure. It's hard to tell what is actually left of the chamber as it is now so overgrown. I think that the capstone rsts upon the still upright walls of it, but I really can not be sure.
