Piled up next to a large area of relatively uneroded limestone are three slabs. They were never a tomb, but it is just possible that they were being prepared to make one.
Most of the Burren limestone is eroded so much that the raised areas are very small. I have often wondered where the larger slabs come from and it seems that places like this must hold the key and this hill is one of the reasons why the area holds such a large concentration of tombs.
Westropp noted several raised slabs on the top of around the cairn at Parknabinnia (County Clare) and speculated that they were being lifted to make more tombs. I think these slabs fit into the same category.
