Visit Notes

Sunday, 22nd February 2004

The GPS coordinates mean nothing here as the site is totally ruined. In fact the stones I found may not even be the monument. Modern forestry has obliterated this hillside and any traces of this tomb with it.

Why have I included it? Because there is one view from this spot which is mind-blowing. Putting every other landscape feature to shame, over 50 kms south, the huge pregnant-belly-like Ballyhoura Mountains sit, purple and seemingly out of focus on the horizon. You just have to stand, stare and marvel.
