I continue to rant on about the importance of rocky outcrops and this site is a good indication of why I do it. Here we have a 3m tall outcrop that is topped by the remains of a small stone altar and a fine cross pillar - a good indication that this outcrop was probably held sacred long before the Turas started. Another indicator of its importance can be seen when you realise, as I did, that a line drawn along the axes of the main galleries of Farranmacbride (County Donegal) across the valley passes straight through this point.

The cross pillar itself has decoration on both faces. The east face has three squarish panels, while the west face, although more eroded, is far more stylish with curvelinear designs.
