Visit Notes

Sunday, 14th December 2003

I was stumbling around the hillside looking for the Piperstown stone circle, but again with no success. I did, however, come across this amazing standing stone, which I can find no record of anywhere.

What's more - I think it may be part of a 4 or 5 stone alignment, which may point to Glassamucky Brakes (County Dublin) on the hillside below. I really need to go back here, firstly with my GPS to get the definite grid ref and secondly to check out if it does indeed point at the stone circle below. Obviously, if it does then my 'possible stone row' becomes very much a reallity.

The stone itself is set on the western edge of the hilltop overlooking the Dodder Valley below. It is 1.5m tall and wedge-shaped.
