I was actually here looking for the rather rude little figure in the neighbouring townland of Ballycloghduff (County Westmeath) and so stopped off briefly to check out this stone. I wasn't in the mood to walk through a field full of cows to reach this magnificent looking stone and so settled for a photo from the road, whilst making a note to come back another day.
The stone stands very proudly on a ridge and looks like a huge tombstone with its rounded top. I would guess that it is easily 3m high. Worth coming back for a proper look.

From the west end of Moate follow the signs for the Heritage Park. Continue past the park and continue straight on at the first crossroads after 900m (these are easy to miss). Pass the first turning to the right and then bear right. After another 600m you will come to a small cluster of houses. Continue around to the right and pass a turning to the right. The stone is 300m past this junction on the right.
