The rath took some finding as we approached it from Boleycarigeen stone circle and not from the track. Inside are the foundations of the dwellings that were once here. The OS map also shows an ogham stone inside the rath, but there was nothing to be seen. We did however find an alien piece of rock which may have been it some 200m from its place.

_A couple of people have mailed me to let me know where to find this ogham stone, being as I failed so dismally the previous time I was here. Oddly I met one of them at the site today, which is most odd.
The stone is difficult to find even with good instructions as to its position, because the ogham inscription is very faint. It is built into one of the internal walls of the rath and stands about 1m tall. The markings are along one edge.
This is the first ogham stone I have seen with a vein of quartz running through it.

I tried to walk from Boleycarrigeen (County Wicklow) to the group of cairns on the peak to the west, but the weather was too bad. I gave up about 50 yards past this stone and decided to check if the inscription was clearer in the low ambient light caused by the dull mono-grey clouds. Not really, but with some flashery-pokery I managed to highlight what remains of the inscription quite well.
