This is a beautiful 13th century ruin full of interest. I loved the vaulted roof below the tower where the priest probably once lived with his wife/family. Curiously the church is aligned well to the south of east and probably aligns to the sunrise on the patron Saint's day - one of the Kierans. Another feature worthy of note is the presence of a light-box type construction above the east facing windows in the tower, one of which is into the vaulted room mentioned above.
I could have spent a long time sitting around here. The church, which sits on the site of an older structure, is in a little valley-ette facing the sea. Large trees now block out most of the view, but by walking a little way up the bank it is all revealed. Fantastic.
Access is now via a car park, built to serve the church and the nearby coastal walk. Where the path extends from the car park you can see the original lane that was once used for access.
