This is the main rath at Rath Cruachan. It is on the south side of the N5 as you drive NW from Tulsk and has a good sized car park.
The remaining mound is quite huge, some 60m in diameter and 4m high. The top shows faint signs of foundations, which appear as bumps and lumps in the grass.
The site is steeped in history, being the location of the final battle when Queen Maeve came looking for the Brown Cow that was stolen from her.
